  • Rank KPIs by decision value and defend the ranking in critique.
  • Compose responsive stacks for phone, tablet, and ops desktop.
  • Pair each widget with an event definition partners can implement.
  • Facilitate a stakeholder readout that resists vanity metrics.
  • Document empty states, thresholds, and delta language in a shared kit.

Modules

1

Signal inventory

Audit existing events and name the decisions your board must support.

2

Hierarchy sketches

Paper-first ranking before pixels; kill decorative charts early.

3

Density without noise

Composition patterns for high-data boards that stay scannable.

4

Threshold storytelling

Annotations, alerts, and motion that explain change honestly.

5

Interaction choreography

Filters, comparisons, and progressive disclosure across breakpoints.

6

Readout rehearsal

Present before/after systems to product partners with a critique script.

FAQ

Do I need to code?

No. You should be comfortable reading basic event schemas with an analyst partner. Prototypes may use Figma or similar.

What tools do you support?

We stay tool-agnostic. Examples reference common product analytics stacks, but critiques focus on decisions and layout.

What is a real limitation of this course?

Signal to Screen does not include hands-on instrumentation engineering. If your events are undefined or inaccessible, you will need an internal analytics partner before week two — we will not invent production data pipelines for you.

Are sessions recorded?

Yes, for enrolled learners for 90 days. Critique circles still expect live attendance for at least four of six weeks.

Course reviews

Week four’s threshold storytelling exercise exposed how our “healthy” green states hid a 14% drop. Painful, useful.

★★★★☆

Dense. The component kit is excellent. I wish there were more Android-specific density examples — most demos leaned iOS.
